Suzuki's new Celerio is an impressive hatchback that packs plenty into its compact dimensions. The vehicle is the ideal choice for motorists who want a small, no-nonsense model that delivers pleasingly low running costs.
The all-new model has a distinctive look that is easily recognised as a product of the Suzuki stable. The confident stance and two-part grille are features found across the brand's line-up, but where the likes of the Swift have a honeycomb grille, the Celerio features two bold horizontal chrome bars across its grille. Polished black alloys and front fog lights enhance the appeal of the vehicle further, with the latter giving you full visibility in low-light conditions.
The cabin of the Celerio may surprise you with the amount of space it offers. The manufacturer has considered every inch inside the cabin, and the result is class-leading boot capacity plus ample headroom and legroom for adult passengers. With five doors it's easy to access the rear bench seats and any luggage, while at the front an elevated driving position gives you a superb view of the road ahead. The simple dashboard places most controls within easy reach, and Suzuki has included all you could need when you're on the move.
Three trim grades of SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4 are offered by the carmaker, each equipping the Celerio well. The standard CD/radio system includes a DAB digital radio and a USB port to connect external devices and entertain you on the move. Air conditioning keeps the cockpit at the preferred temperature, no matter the weather, and a Bluetooth® interface with hands-free control lets you stay safely connected.
Suzuki offers the hatchback with just one engine, but that's all this agile model needs. It's a 1.0-litre petrol that produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, which it sends to the road via a five-speed manual gearbox. Emissions are low at just 99g/km and, with careful driving, a return of up to 65.7mpg combined is possible. This means exemption from road tax and fewer stops at the pumps, bringing fuel expenses down.
The car's small shape and lightweight build keep it agile and responsive when you dip the accelerator, and it's therefore ideal for nipping around town or navigating narrow urban routes.
Wherever you take it, you can have confidence in the Celerio's ability to keep you safe. Helping you to avoid accidents is an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), but if one does occur you're protected by front, side, and curtain airbags.
